When the current-generation Opel Astra debuted in Singapore in 2016, it was powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre 4-cylinder putting out 150bhp and 245Nm.
Four years later, the facelifted Astra now has a turbocharged 1.3-litre 3-cylinder engine. But its performance is roughly similar to the larger motor. With 143hp and 236Nm, it does the century sprint in 9.9 seconds, or almost a second slower than before.
Now, performance aside, what else does the Astra have to offer? Julian Kho, editor of sgCarMart, takes this five-door hatchback for a spin to discover what it offers in terms of space and practicality, too.
Will he conclude that the Astra is a “will buy”, “go try” or “won’t buy”? Keep watching and find out!
