The days of sombre-looking business saloons are long gone, for many of today’s executives want an automobile that not only exudes luxury, but also has the sheer presence to stand out in a company carpark. After all, in the corporate world, one’s ride is also a reflection of his success.
Aimed at professionals with plenty of bravado is the second-generation Chrysler 300C, launched here a few months ago. While this American’s muscular lines and sizeable dimensions are designed to dominate the traffic landscape, it also promises higher quality and better driveability than its predecessor, which is lacking in these areas.
Banking on its apparent edge in driving performance is the Infiniti M37. Both the brand and the car are relatively new to town, and the latter is out to impress motorists with a potent combination of curvy looks and sporty dynamics.
Facing its “wicked” rivals in this story is the fourth-generation Lexus GS350, a popular number in Singapore. Lexus says that its mid-range model is smoother and more luxurious than before, yet still delivers an exciting experience on the road.
Which of these cool contenders is the most talented and charismatic? We find out.

GS350 – The group’s classiest and plushest cockpit has the most seat adjustments, and comes complete with a memory feature for the front passenger, too. Other “exclusive” touches include an electronic parking brake and blind spot monitor.

300C – Roomiest and cushiest cockpit of the trio takes great care of the manager in charge, who also enjoys the best spots to rest his arms. However, “crashing” glovebox lid and cheap interior lamps affect the perception of quality.

M37 – Coupe-like cockpit offers the sportiest and most cocooned feel, but the overly soft seats and comparatively narrow footrest could make a long drive tiring. Keyless entry function is the only one here that still requires a door handle button to be pressed.
