Buyers shopping for an electric car in Singapore will soon have another option to consider.
Vincar, a local parallel importer, has announced that its electric vehicle arm, Vincar EV, is now the exclusive distributor of GAC Aion in Singapore. The official signing of the agreement took place on 25 August in Bangkok, Thailand.
GAC Aion was founded on 28 July 2017 as a development carrier for the GAC group’s new energy automobile business. It has two manufacturing companies in its home country of China, with an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles.
In 2022, the firm delivered over 271,000 new energy vehicles, making it the third largest EV brand in China.
On the acquisition of the distributorship, CEO of Vincar, Vincent Tan, said, “This is an amazing milestone in the Vincar journey. Our principal has endorsed us by appointing Vincar EV as their exclusive distributor. It is now our mission to make Aion EVs a compelling choice in Singapore.”
Vincar states that it will offer more information on the GAC Aion models that will be arriving in Singapore. However, according to The Straits Times, Vincar EV will bring in the GAC Aion Y Plus in November 2023.
