Hyundai has unveiled its newly enhanced Kona alongside a new Kona N Line variant.
SPORTY PROGRESSIVE DESIGN
The new Hyundai Kona N Line sets itself apart with its body colour-matched wheel arches. An N-style aerodynamic lip with low-lying corner fins also give the car a more “road-hugging” appearance.
The Kona N Line also gets a unique mesh design and surface treatment in its air intakes.
A dedicated 18-inch alloy wheel design is also available for the Kona N Line.
The interior of the N Line car is available with a dedicated N Line colour package in black with cloth, leather or suede seats. Red stitching, alloy pedals, and an N logo on the gearshift lever and seats also set the N Line model apart from the regular Kona.
DESIGN UPGRADES FOR THE NEW HYUNDAI KONA
Regular versions of the Hyundai Kona have a revamped front end with wider and thinner LED daytime driving lights. An extended bonnet, redesigned grille and a new skid plate also now grace the front of the car.
At the rear, there’s a new bumper along with new tail-lights with horizontally stretched graphics.
The new Hyundai Kona comes in five new exterior colours: Surfy Blue, Dive in Jeju, Ignite Flame, Cyber Grey, and Misty Jungle.
NEW INTERIOR UPDATES
The interior of the new Hyundai Kona has been designed to deliver a more upscale and progressive look while maintaining the rugged-yet-refined style of the exterior.
The centre console is now “disconnected” from the instrument panel to emphasise its horizontal layout. New ambient lighting is used to illuminate the centre cup holders and the passenger and driver side footwells.
Also new are the aluminium finish rings around the speakers and air vents.
New seat cover options include a woven houndstooth design, cloth seats with black and grey embossing, and perforated leather seats in black, beige, or khaki.
CONNECTIVITY AND TECHNOLOGY
The new Hyundai Kona comes with a 10.25-inch digital cluster paired with an optional 10.25-inch Audio Video Navigation (AVN) system. Said new AVN screen comes with a split-screen function and the ability to pair multiple Bluetooth connections.
The latest Blue Link upgrade also sees the Hyundai Kona gaining new tech features including Last Mile Navigation, Connected Routing, Live Parking Information, and more.
Customers will also have the option of storing a customised user profile that can be transferred to other Hyundai vehicles with the same feature.
CATERING FOR ECO-CONSCIOUS AND SPORTY DRIVERS
At the top of the Hyundai Kona engine lineup is an enhanced 1.6-liter T-GDI Smartstream engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that delivers 195bhp. This engine will be available in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models.
A 1-litre T-GDI Smartstream petrol engine with 118bhp will also be offered. It features 48-volt mild hybrid technology, a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission and optional four-wheel-drive.
A hybrid option that utilises a 1.6-liter GDI engine and an electric motor for a combined output of 139bhp is also available. This powertrain is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch and with two-wheel-drive. Its 32kW electric motor draws its energy from a 1.56kWh lithium polymer battery.
