Motor Image Enterprises, official distributor of Subaru vehicles in Singapore, has updated the popular Subaru Forester with a new Driver Monitoring System (DMS).
The new technology can recognise up to five different registered drivers using a dedicated infrared camera that scans the driver’s face when he or she gets behind the wheel.
The camera is integrated neatly with the hood of the Multi-Function Display on the Forester’s dashboard. It automatically recalls the recognised driver’s preferred settings, such as for the eight-way electrically adjustable seats.
Apart from the seating position, the system also adjusts the wing mirrors, climate control settings, the content in the Multi-Function Display, as well as those of the Combination meter display.
The Driver Monitoring System also monitors the driver’s eyes while he or she is driving the Forester.
If it detects that the driver is distracted, drowsy or sleepy, which could cause a road accident, the system will alert the driver with a buzzer and a visual alert.
