The Skoda Superb was named “Best Sedan” at the 2018 ST-Torque Awards in Singapore.
Skoda was re-launched in Singapore last year by parent company Volkswagen after a four-year absence.
The Superb’s roominess and practicality won it several plaudits with the 11 judges on the ST-Torque Awards panel.
Lawyer Sarjeet Singh, for one, said: “The Superb is superb. For less than Toyota Camry money, you get the brand’s flagship with Teutonic build quality.”
“It may look like a stately sedan, but it is actually a more practical fastback with a humongous boot. And with a zero to 100km/h time of seven seconds, the Skoda Superb is relatively fast, too.”
Torque magazine’s Dr Andre Lam added: “Shoehorn the VW Golf GTI’s engine into anything and it should be great. The proof of this is the Skoda Superb.”
“The turbocharged 245hp motor gives the car very satisfying levels of performance, despite the large and heavy body. Skoda engineers have given it an excellent ride without compromising too much on handling.”
“This is a well-sorted car offering great value for money.”
