The Skoda Skala is a hatchback, but here’s what it could look like in Spider form.
20 students from the Skoda Academy are currently involved in an ambitious project: Designing and building an open-top Skoda Scala Spider.
The students have met Skoda Head Designer Oliver Stefani and put their first ideas down on paper with him and his team. The still-unnamed seventh Student Car is scheduled for a presentation to the public in early June.
Throughout this project, the students received support from engineers and experienced employees from Skoda’s technical development, design and production at the brand’s headquarters in Mlada Boleslav.
Using the Skoda Scala as the base, the students have expressed a wish to make the car’s clear lines and emotive shapes more prominent in the Scala Spider to emphasise the vehicle’s overall dynamics.
The compact model currently plays an important role in the Czech manufacturer’s product range.
In creating their first drafts and sketches, the students have already won over the professionals with their enthusiasm and receptiveness.
“From the beginning, all the participants showed great enthusiasm and determination. Their sketches are very impressive, I really like the concept,” says Jiri Hadascok, Exterior Design Coordinator at Skoda.
