Skoda has launched the new Kamiq in Singapore.
The Kamiq is the smallest model in Skoda’s SUV range. Its larger siblings are the Karoq and Kodiaq.
The Kamiq is available in three trim levels: Ambition, Style and Monte Carlo (the top specification). Prices currently start from $119,900 with COE.
SKODA KAMIQ: DESIGNED FOR SUBURBANITES
At just over 4.2 metres long and under 1.8 metres wide, the Skoda Kamiq’s dimensions make it suited to built-up, urban conditions.
But its design is outdoorsy, too, thanks to the roof rails and raised ride height, which gives it 188mm of ground clearance.
Full-LED headlights are standard on the Style and Monte Carlo trims. These trim levels also give the Kamiq dynamic indicator lights as standard.
SMALL OUTSIDE, ROOMY INSIDE
Despite its small overall footprint, the Skoda Kamiq has a wheelbase that measures 2651mm long, which bodes well for passenger and cargo space.
The driver and front passenger have up to 1051mm of headroom and 1439mm of elbow room. Backseat passengers have 1003mm of headroom and 73mm of knee space.
Boot capacity is 400 litres with the rear seats in place, and 1395 litres when the backrests are folded. The bench also offers 60:40 split-folding capability to further enhance flexibility.
SAFETY AND ASSISTANCE
The Skoda Kamiq is equipped with a wide variety of safety features. These include Side Assist, which helps detect vehicles in the blind spots, Rear Traffic Alert, and Front Assist with City Emergency Brake.
On the higher trims, the Kamiq is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control, which automatically adjusts the car’s speed and distance to the vehicle in front based on the driver’s chosen settings.
Adaptive Cruise Control is also convenient in congested conditions. It can bring the Kamiq to a halt and accelerate it again automatically within three seconds.
SKODA KAMIQ: POWERTRAIN
Powering the Kamiq is a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-4 that produces 148hp (110kW, 150PS) and 250Nm of torque. The motor sends these outputs to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Skoda says the Kamiq does zero to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 211km/h. Combined fuel consumption is 17.9km per litre.
