The procession will leave Parliament House, where Mr Nathan’s body is now lying in state, at 2pm on Friday and head towards the University Cultural Centre (UCC) at the National University of Singapore, where the state funeral service will take place.
Along the way, it will pass City Hall, Fullerton Hotel and NTUC Centre. To facilitate that, these roads and lanes will be closed from 10am to 6pm on Friday:
– Kent Ridge Crescent (between lamp post 51/1 and Sports Drive 2)
– Engineering Drive 1 (between Kent Ridge Crescent and Engineering Drive 3)
– Extreme left lane of the carriageway of Clementi Road in the direction of West Coast Ferry Road (between lamp post 55A and lamp post 51/1)
– Extreme right lane of the carriageway of Clementi Road in the direction of Bukit Timah Road (between lamp post 46 and lamp post 50)
Traffic is also expected to be heavy along these roads from 1.45pm to 2.25pm:
– Hill Street
– North Bridge Road
– Stamford Road
– Esplanade Drive
– Fullerton Road
– Collyer Quay
– Raffles Quay
– Cross Street
– Upper Cross Street
– Havelock Road
– Ganges Avenue
– Alexandra Road
– Commonwealth Avenue West
– Commonwealth Avenue
– Clementi Road
Bus services 96 and 151, which ply the bus stops near the UCC, will be temporarily diverted from 10am to 6pm due to the closure of Kent Ridge Crescent.
The eight bus services plying the area around Parliament House will continue to be diverted until 5pm.
People are advised not to fly any unmanned aircraft like drones near the UCC, or along the procession route, the release said.
“Police officers will be stationed at all affected road junctions to direct traffic,” it added.
