The upcoming Renault Austral, the firm’s replacement for the Kadjar, has entered its final stage of development.
The final confirmation runs for the SUV will see close to 100 prototypes covering two million kilometres. The cars will cross France, Spain, Germany and Romania.
The final checks are also being conducted on the SUV’s new CMF-CD3 platform and its electrified engine options.
Nine hundred drivers will cover 600,000km of open roads in real-life conditions, while the remaining 1,400,000km will take place on the track.
Renault has confirmed a electrified-only lineup for the Austral. Engine options for the SUV will include an E-Tech hybrid, while a 1.3-litre TCe unit paired with a 12V mild hybrid will also be offered.
The car will also be available with a 1.2-litre TCe unit equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology.
