Honda has given us the first glimpse of the new Civic on streaming platform Twitch.
A TIMELESS CIVIC DESIGN
The 11th generation Honda Civic is said to revisit the timeless design of previous Civics. The new model carries over the low-slung design of its predecessor with a low height and hip point.
A low bonnet, front fenders, and horizontal beltline grounds the body, accentuating the wheels and tyres. These help create an expansive greenhouse with optimal outward visibility.
The upright grille emphasises the low and wide stance of the new Honda Civic. To “elongate” the bonnet, the greenhouse has been moved rearwards.
At the rear, the Civic’s wider track is further highlighted by the stretched tail-lights. An upswept trailing edge provides an aerodynamically-efficient end to the boot lid.
A CLEANER INTERIOR DESIGN
The interior of the new Honda Civic also adopts the clean and uncluttered lines of earlier-generation models.
The instrument panel is free of visual clutter, minimising cut lines and breaks to give drivers a clean and clear view of the road ahead. Meanwhile, the honeycomb mesh accent, aids in concealing the “busy-ness” of the air vents.
New for the interior is a digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch full-HD Display Audio touchscreen atop the instrument panel.
FAMILY CAR SAFETY
The US-bound Honda Civic will also introduce multiple new active and passive safety systems, including an upgraded suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies, and multiple new airbag designs.
The new Honda Civic will also utilise Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure to deliver both improved occupant and pedestrian collision protection.
