The Cayman family will welcome a new top-of-the-line model with the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
The car, set to make its world premiere come November 2021, has already undergone final testing and evaluation drives.
These drives included a lap around the 20.8km Nurburgring-Nordschleife circuit, completed in just 7:09.300 minutes. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS also lapped the shorter 20.6 km lap of the circuit, the previously used benchmark, in just 7:04.511 minutes.
That’s 23.6 seconds faster than the 718 Cayman GT4, so you know Porsche has really upped the performance ante.
The prototype car’s standard specification (save for the racing seat to protect development driver Jorg Bergmeister) and weight was verified by a notary. It also performed the record lap running on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, which are said to be offered as an option.
“The GT4 RS is one of the sharpest cars Porsche has ever developed. And you really have had to experience the breathtaking noise it makes for yourself,” states the world-class driver, who has devoted more than 500 hours to the test and tuning drives as part of the car’s development.
