Polestar has revealed the new Polestar 3.
The all-electric SUV will offer seating for five, and a 111kWh battery will animate electric motors at both axles.
POLE TO POLE RANGE
These motors will generate a total of 483bhp and 840Nm of torque. This power is enough to see the Polestar 3 launching from zero to 100km/h in just 5 seconds.
Polestar states that this drivetrain will give the Polestar 3 a preliminary 610km range.
Opt for optional Performance Pack however, and performance rises to 510bhp and 910Nm. The century sprint time is reduced to 4.7 seconds with this option ticked.
As with the Polestar 2, Polestar 3s equipped with the Performance Pack Polestar will also come with gold details throughout. And your wheels swell to become 22-inch forged items here as well.
Working on the handling front meanwhile, is an electric torque vectoring dual clutch system at the rear axle, alongside dual-chamber air suspension.
These will work with the front aero wing integrated into the bonnet, the aero wing integrated into the rear spoiler, and the rear aero blades you see on the exterior of the car.
SUSTAINABLE AND CONNECTED
The cabin of the Polestar 3 meanwhile, will come decked with bio-attributed MicroTech, animal welfare-certified leather and fully traceable wool upholsteries.
A centre-mounted 14.5-inch infotainment display will run the firm’s Android Automotive OS.
This means owners will have Google Maps and Google Assistant built into their infotainment system, alongside the ability to receive software updates over-the-air.
All examples of the Polestar 3 are also said to come with a full-length panoramic glass roof here.
But opt for the the Plus Pack and Pilot Pack and you’ll also get to enjoy features including a 25-speaker audio system from Bowers and Wilkins with 3D surround sound and Dolby Atmos capability, soft-closing doors, a head-up display and Pilot Assist.
SMART AND SAFE
The Polestar 3 is also said to come with a total of five radar modules, five external cameras and 12 external ultrasonic sensors, all to support its numerous advanced safety features.
And you’ll additionally get interior radar sensors that can detect minute movements in the interior of the car so as to help protect against accidentally leaving children or pets inside.
This system comes linked to the climate control system to avoid heat stroke or hypothermia.
Production of the Polestar 3 for initial launch markets is planned to begin in Volvo Cars’ facility in Chengdu, China, and first deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2023.
