Polestar has built a special “Arctic Circle” Polestar 2 that’s designed to conquer the ice of the freezing North.
The one-off car, designed by rally driver Joakim Rydholm, was built to show off Polestar’s engineering expertise when it comes to cold environments.
It is based on a Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor equipped with the Performance Pack, and comes with touches inspired by the world of rallying.
These include a 30mm raised ride height, alongside increased power and torque, which now stands at 469bhp and 680Nm.
The Arctic Circle Polestar 2 also gets custom-made 19-inch studded winter tyres. Each one features 490 4mm metal studs, giving the car the necessary traction on snow and ice.
These tyres are held by 30% softer springs, alongside the performance Ohlins dampers, which have been specially designed and tuned just for this car.
Front and rear strut braces have been fitted to increase torsional rigidity and steering responsiveness.
A new prototype launch control system has also been developed for the car, which should prove handy when racing on icy surfaces.
At the back, you’ll find a carbon fibre snow shovel and a recovery strap, which might prove handy if you’ve overestimated your driving abilities.
On the outside, the front bumper of the Arctic Circle Polestar 2 features a carbon fibre skid plate for additional under-body protection.
Other rally-inspired touches include 19-inch OZ Racing wheels, four Stedi Quad Pro LED lights at the front, and a unique exterior livery in matte grey and white.
In the cabin, there are custom-upholstered Recaro front bucket seats in charcoal with Swedish gold branding.
