The latest Peugeot 208 and 2008 models will now be equipped with a new and sleeker gear selector.
Replacing the outgoing lever-type unit, the tab-like selector frees up space on the centre console and is claimed to be more ergonomic, too. The new transmission control is standard on the fully electric e-208 and e-2008 models.
Peugeot says that the new selector complements the environment of the brand’s i-Cockpit®, which is also designed to offer a combination of tech and ergonomics.
The new control only allows the driver to move between Reverse, Neutral and Drive. Park and Manual (for internal combustion engine models) are selected using separate buttons.
For electric models, the Brake (B) button replaces the M button. Pressing B activates regenerative braking and increases the energy recovered while decelerating.
All 208 and 2008 models equipped with this new gear selector will also be equipped with an electrically-operated parking brake.
