Volkswagen has unveiled the updated Tiguan. The comprehensive update sees the car receiving new interior and exterior styling, as well as innovative driver-assistance and comfort features.
A REDESIGNED EXTERIOR FOR THE VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN
The front end of the car is completely new. A new grille, which flows into the standard LED headlights, is wider -forging a visual link between the Tiguan and larger models such as the Touareg and the Atlas Cross Sport.
It also houses a redesigned Volkswagen badge.
NEW CONNECTIVITY FEATURES
Inside, Volkswagen has added a digital version of the new multi-function steering wheel. It features illuminated touch islands and sliders.
An all-new touch module is also available for the Climatronic automatic climate control functions on mid-range models.
The air-conditioning controls are now operated via touch buttons, while illuminated USB-C ports are located below them.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan will feature the latest-generation modular infotainment system (MIB3), a standard configurable digital instrument panel and the next-gen personalisation system.
MIB3 offers natural voice control, multi-phone pairing that can easily switch between devices, and wireless App-Connect.
An 8-inch display comes standard, and top trim models will receive a 10.25-inch display.
Rounding out the interior changes is a newly available 15-colour ambient lighting system. The 480-watt Fender Premium Audio System will continue to be offered as standard equipment on top trims for U.S.A models.
European models meanwhile, will get a 480W sound system by audio specialist Harman/Kardon.
BOLSTERED ASSISTANCE FEATURES
Newly added for the Volkswagen Tiguan is the Travel Assist driver assistance feature. The system can take over steering, braking and acceleration of the new Tiguan at speeds of up to 209km/h.
The new steering wheel is additionally equipped with touch detection to better utilise this feature on straight roads.
POWERTRAIN OPTIONS
U.S.A bound models of the Volkswagen Tiguan will be powered by an advanced version of the EA888 4-cylinder TSI engine, delivering 181bhp.
Meanwhile, European markets will also receive the 315bhp Volkswagen Tiguan R, as well as a 241bhp plug-in hybrid version.
