Subaru has revealed a new, 2024 Impreza at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
AN ENTICING NEW TRIM
Top highlight for the new Impreza is the fact that it will be available in the US in an RS trim. This trim level comes equipped with a 2.5-litre flat-4 engine that produces 180bhp and 241Nm of torque.
But for the more economy-minded, the Subaru Impreza will also be available with a 2-litre unit. This powerplant pushes out a total of 149bhp and 196Nm of torque.
All Imprezas will put their power to the road through a revised Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, equipped with Active Torque Vectoring, alongside a Lineartronic CVT.
RS trim cars will also come with an 8-speed manual mode and steering wheel paddle shifters.
Bummed out about having to use a CVT? There’s plenty going on with this Subaru Impreza that will redeem.
WITH UPGRADED HANDLING
Take, for example, the fact that increased use of structural adhesive for the Subaru Global Platform gives the 2024 car a 10% increase in torsional rigidity.
More exciting still is the fact that this Subaru Impreza will get a dual-pinion electronic power steering rack, said to be a version of the one found in the WRX.
Subaru states that customers can expect a greater steering feel and steering responsiveness with this rack.
AS WELL AS AN IMPROVED CABIN
Step inside the new Impreza and you’ll also note that it now comes with Subaru’s 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system. This system comes complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
Also new is the firm’s latest EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. The technology has been enhanced so it has a wider field of view, and can now identify bicycles and pedestrians at intersections sooner.
It will also, when necessary, alert the driver and apply the brakes to avoid collisions.
