One look will recognise that the all-new Peugeot 5008 is a real SUV. All the hallmarks are there: long, horizontal bonnet; vertical face; raised body line. The inspired design conveys power and respect. Its height remains the same as the previous model, though (1.64m with standard roof bars).
The design give the French car a long and dynamic profile. At the front, the wide grille with chrome fins is exclusive, while the rear design features the gloss black strip and the signature LED “claw effect” tail-lights that set the latest breed of Peugeot SUVs apart.
The 2.84m wheelbase of the new 5008 SUV makes it the most liveable of C-segment SUVs. The overall length of the vehicle (4.64m) remains compact as the newcomer, though 11cm longer than the original 5008, is still one of the most conservatively proportioned and its extra length makes it roomier for passengers.
The vehicle’s optimised architecture is only part of the package on offer. Its configuration includes three matching, separate, folding seats in the second row, adjustable in length and inclination; two removable, separate, folding seats in the third row; the biggest boot capacity of 1060 litres; a foldable front passenger seat (to carry especially long loads up to 3.20m) and a practical hands-free motorised tailgate.
Inside, the driver’s environment is unique with the newest version of the almost futuristic Peugeot i-Cockpit, which offers cabin occupants a novel driving experience that both surprises and delights. With its compact steering wheel, a large 8-inch touchscreen dashboard and a spectacular 12.3-inch high-resolution digital head-up display, the 5008’s i-Cockpit impresses drivers with its superior graphics and elegant animations.
Like the new-generation 308 and 3008, the all-new 5008 SUV features the automaker’s Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) and the very latest Euro 6.1 powertrains, fuelled with a choice of petrol and diesel.
This new 5008 is an invitation to travel in luxury, not least because it has excellent sound insulation and a number of features for the comfort of all on board, but also body-hugging front seats that feature an optional multi-point massage system, Focal premium hi-fi system, large panoramic opening glass roof, etc. It also provides the best in permanent connectivity with the Mirror Screen function and 3D connected navigation system pre-installed with TomTom Traffic.
The new 5008 SUV range includes four trim levels – Active, Allure, GT Line and GT. Manufactured in Rennes, France, the Peugeot people-carrier goes on sale in right-hand-drive markets from early 2017.
