The Citroen C4, which was once a hatchback, is now a crossover. Citroen says that the C4’s silhouette is “disruptive” and “shaped to reinvent the driving experience.”
The C4 features new LED V-shaped front and read light signatures and an inclined roofline, and a taller ride height for a more assertive stance.
CAT A DRIVETRAIN
The C4 is powered by a turbocharged 1.2-litre inline-3 that’s capable of 129hp and 230Nm. Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the C4 can sprint from rest to 100km/h in 10.4 seconds, and manages an average fuel consumption of up to 21.3km/L.
ROOMIER, COMFIER CABIN
The new C4’s interior is more spacious than before, thanks to the 2665mm wheelbase. Citroen claims that the 198mm of knee clearance for backseat passengers is best-in-class for the model’s segment.
Helping enhance passenger wellness is the car’s Advanced Comfort Programme, which comes with the brand’s distinctive Advanced Comfort Seats and Progressive Hydraulic Cushions.
The latter adds two hydraulic stops on either side of the dampers for rebound and compression, helping slow down movement from sudden jolts, while also absorbing dips and bumps.
The Advanced Comfort Seats, on the other hand, combine high-density foam in the seat centre with thick, textured foam on the surface for both softness and support.
With regard to infotainment, the C4 has a 10-inch display equipped with Citroen Connect Play with the Mirror Screen function that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging for smartphones is also standard.
DRIVER ASSISTANCE
The C4 comes with up to 16 different safety and driver convenience technologies to help enhance the driving experience. These include Active Safety Brake, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a coloured head-up display. The latter two are only available on C4 Shine variants.
In case of a risk of colliding with the vehicle in front, the C4’s Collision Risk Alert will warn the driver of the impending mishap. In case an accident does occur, the vehicle’s Post-Collision Safety Brake can immobilise the car to prevent follow-on mishaps.
Other key features include Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Monitor, which improves safety when changing lanes.
