Mercedes-Benz has updated the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet to make both cars even more desirable to their target buyers.
A new, flatter headlamp design now gives the cars a more dynamic look, and now house all-LED technology. The new diamond radiator grille, standard on all models, has also been redesigned for a more dynamic touch.
It now features chrome-plated dots, a single louvre, and the Mercedes star in the centre.
The muscular rear section of the Coupe and Cabriolet models have also received completely redesigned two-piece taillights, which now also sport LED technology.
Four new paint colours are now available for the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet as part of the facelift: High-tech Silver, Graphite Grey Metallic, Mojave Silver and Patagonia Red (Designo).
The wheel lineup has also been expanded and now includes aero wheels, which help contribute to saving fuel and thus to sustainability.
LOVELIER TO SIT IN AND DRIVE
Two new trim options – open-pore grey ash wood and aluminium with light carbon fibre grain – also enhance the interior.
The hands-off detection feature of the steering wheel of the E-Class Sedan has also made its way into the Coupe and Cabriolet models.
It now features a pad with the appropriate sensors in the rim to register whether the driver is holding the wheel and works on a capacitive basis, allowing it to detect if the driver has his hands on the wheel even without steering input.
The new sensors will enhance user-friendliness when driving in semi-automated mode.
If the system detects that the driver does not have their hands on the steering wheel for a certain time, a warning cascade is started, which finally activates Emergency Brake Assist if the driver continues to be inactive.
The updated E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are equipped with the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia system. As standard, it includes two large 10.25-inch screens arranged side by side for a sublime widescreen look. Two 12.3-inch screens are also optionally available.
ENGINE CHOICES WITH MILD-HYBRID TECH
Three petrol engine options are currently offered for the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. The range starts from a 2-litre 4-cylinder – badged as an E200 – delivering 194bhp and 320Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the mid-range E300 will deliver 256bhp and 370Nm.
A turbocharged 3-litre inline-6 is also offered. It will deliver 362bhp and 500Nm of torque and sport the E450 badge.
All three petrol engines feature Mercedes’ 48V Integrated Starter Generator, which uses an electric alternator fitted directly to the 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The system will offer 13bhp and 150Nm of torque from the EQ boost in the four-cylinder engines, and 21bhp and 250Nm of torque in the 6-cylinder unit.
