Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GLA35, the final piece in the 35-series lineup of Mercedes-AMG models.
MERCEDES-AMG GLA35: COMPACT ALL-ROUNDER
At the front of the Mercedes-AMG GLA35 sits the AMG-specific radiator grill that emphasises the model’s membership into the AMG family.
The trim on the louvres in the outer air inlets and the front splitter – available in silver chrome or high-gloss black – also set the Mercedes-AMG GLA35 apart.
The 19-inch, five-twin-spoke light alloy wheels are painted in tantalum grey with a high-sheen finish (other designs are optionally available in 19, 20 or 21 inches), while the door panels have inserts in either silver chrome or high-gloss black.
The rear end is dominated by a rear apron with a new diffuser and an AMG roof spoiler.
302BHP TURBOCHARGED FOUR-CYLINDER
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine familiar from other 35-models continues service in the Mercedes-AMG GLA35.
The twin-scroll exhaust gas turbocharger is backed by engine technologies including a CAMTRONIC variable valve train, intelligent thermal management for coolant and oil, high-precision piezo injectors and multi-spark ignition to maintain power output and efficiency.
4MATIC ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
The Mercedes-AMG GLA35 sports the variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system for the best possible traction with plenty of driving enjoyment.
The system is capable of varying power from a 50:50 distribution between the front and rear axles, to diverting all torque to only the front wheels.
New to the Mercedes-AMG GLA35 is the AMG DYNAMICS integrated dynamic handling control system. The system extends the stabilising functions of Electronic Stability Programme with agility-enhancing interventions via imperceptible braking intervention in order to sharpen the steering of the Mercedes-AMG GLA35.
SPORTY HANDLING
The front axle of the Mercedes-AMG GLA35 utilises a MacPherson suspension strut construction with an AMG-specific front steering knuckle that incorporates a radially bolted brake caliper.
At the rear, a 4-link axle is connected rigidly with the body via a rear axle carrier.
Stopping power is catered for by 4-piston monoblock fixed calipers and 350mm brake discs at the front. The rear axle meanwhile gets 1-piston sliding calipers and 330mm brake discs.
The discs are internally ventilated and perforated to better dissipate heat and prevent brake fading even with extreme use. The silver-painted brake calipers have black AMG lettering.
An AMG exhaust system will allow for variable sound characteristics to be controlled by an exhaust gas flap, and changes depending on engine speed and load, and driving mode selected.
DYNAMIC COCKPIT
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GLA35 sports a multitude of sporty touches.
The include the seat upholstery in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre in black with contrasting topstitching in red and red seat belts. The interior trim with a carbon-fibre structure and the air vents feature a red ring to further lift to sporty character of the cabin.
An interior in black/neva white ARTICO man-made leather is also available as standard.
The “Supersport” display mode is also available on the fully-digital instrument cluster, while the centre console is finished in a piano-lacquer look finish.
The standard touchpad has additional buttons that provide control over the 3-stage ESP, manual transmission mode and the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension.
If 302bhp sounds insufficient, there’s always the option of the full-blown Mercedes-AMG GLA45!
