Lexus has unveiled the UX300e, its first pure electric model, in Singapore.
The UX300e is based on the Lexus UX, which is the brand’s smallest SUV model. Equipped with a 54.3kWh lithium-ion battery, Lexus says the UX300e has a WLTP range of 300km.
It is currently priced at $255,800 with COE.
LEXUS UX300e: DESIGN & INTERIOR
Apart from the “Electric” badges, the UX300e looks largely similar to its petrol and petrol-electric hybrid siblings.
The crossover’s styling is inspired by the Japanese concept of Engawa, which seeks to connect the exterior with the interior for a more harmonious coexistence with the environment.
At the same time, the crossover also aims to appeal with its rugged touches, such as the unpainted lower trims and large wheel arches. A special underbody cover helps optimise aerodynamics.
Inside, the Lexus UX300e’s leather upholstery takes inspiration from Sashiko, a traditional Japanese quilting technique used to make martial arts uniforms. A trim finish inspired by the grain of Japanese washi paper is also available.
A shift-by-wire gearshift knob takes the place of the conventional gearshift lever found in the other UX variants. The paddle shifters enable drivers to choose from one of four energy recuperation levels.
Other cabin refinements include ventilated seats, colour head-up display and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system. The latter is equipped with proprietary technologies that include Quantum Logic and Clari-Fi.
For connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard.
RANGE AND CHARGING
The Lexus UX300e is equipped with a 54.3kWh lithium-ion battery, which gives the crossover a WLTP range of 300km.
It takes eight hours to fully charge the car via AC charging (6.6kW). Faster charging (50kW) is unavailable, as the UX300e uses the CHAdeMO charging standard, which is not widely available in Singapore.
Lexus is offering complimentary charging for owners. It has four AC chargers within its showroom premises.
For peace of mind, the UX300e and its batteries are both covered by an eight-year/200,000km (whichever comes first) warranty.
