Borneo Motors has launched the Lexus RZ450e SUV in Singapore.
The Lexus RZ450e is the brand’s first all-electric vehicle, which means it is not available with either a petrol or petrol-hybrid powertrain. It is based on the firm’s eTNGA battery electric-specific platform.
Said platform is claimed to offer optimal weight distribution thanks to an ideal placement of the battery and motors. The location of the battery under the vehicle floor also ensures that the RZ has a low centre of gravity, and more cabin space for passengers.
Powering the RZ are two electric motors, on on the front axle and another on the rear one. Torque distribution between them is calculated by Lexus’ Direct4 all-wheel-drive system, which also manages vehicle pitch and dive.
Unlike theĀ Toyota bZ4X ,which also utilises this platform, the Lexus RZ450e offers 308bhp and 435Nm of torque. These figures allow it to go from rest to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds. Power for these motors comes from a 71.4kWh battery that gives the electric SUV a WLTP range of 440km.
CHARGING MATTERS
Lexus says that it will take 10 hours to charge the battery via alternating current (AC). With a 150kW direct current (DC) charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
Customers here in Singapore will easily be able to keep their Lexus RZ charged thanks to the collaboration between Borneo Motors and Shell.
This partnership offers Lexus RZ owners who do not stay on landed property 3,300kWh of charging credits. Those who do stay on landed property will be extended 600kWh of charging credits.
Like the Lexus RX, the RZ450e features a 14-inch HD touchscreen with a high-adhesion, anti-reflective coating to enhance the display. The RZ also features a 13-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound system, which also includes a 224mm subwoofer in the rear for improved bass.
And up top, a panoramic roof complete with a dimming function extends from above the front seats to above the rear seats, contributing to a feeling of wide-open space.
Suede door trims and premium seat upholstery made with 30% bio-based sustainable materials also feature in the cabin. For practicality, the Lexus RZ offers a total of 522 litres of boot space.
For security, the RZ is equipped with Lexus Safety System+3.0 that includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Emergency Steering Assist.
The car is currently priced from $402,800 with COE.
