Lamborghini is a carmaker better known for creating exotic machines such as the Huracan and Aventador.
Now, the manufacturer is producing surgical masks and plexiglass shields to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Italy is one of the worst-hit countries.
Several departments in Lamborghini’s Sant’ Agata Bolognese factory have been converted to produce these items.
The brand’s saddlery department is producing up to 1000 surgical masks a day. Normally, the staff here would be creating leather interiors for cars. They are also tasked with executing bespoke orders.
Lamborghini’s carbon fibre production plant is also home to several 3D printers. These are now being used to make up to 200 plexiglass shields a day.
The medical supplies will be donated to the Sant’ Orsola-Malphigi Hospital in Bologna.
