The Kia Stonic is now available in Singapore.
The Kia Stonic is a compact crossover aimed at younger motorists. There is a wide variety of colourways available for today’s buyers, who typically want to be able to personalise their car.
Indeed, customers will be able to choose from up to 29 different colourways, with two-tone colour combinations available for the Kia Stonic’s “targa” roof and cabin.
Powering the Kia Stonic is a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 118hp and 171Nm. It completes the century sprint in a relatively decent 10.6 seconds.
Unlike its “cousin”, the Kona from sister company Hyundai, the 1-litre Stonic is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. When the Kona 1.0 was launched in Singapore, it was only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
With this drivetrain, Kia claims a combined fuel economy figure of 18.5km/L, or 5.4 litres per 100km.
Standard on the Stonic are features such as Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
VSM helps improve handling by providing functions that include Torque Vectoring and Cornering Brake Control.
Other safety features include six airbags and the extensive use of advanced high-strength steel. Kia says that the latter accounts for more than 51 percent of the materials used in the Stonic’s construction.
For practicality, the Kia Stonic has a 352-litre boot, which can be expanded via the 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
Other amenities include a 7-inch infotainment system with touchscreen interface and Apple CarPlay.
The Kia Stonic is available in EX and SX trim levels, with prices starting from $69,999. More information can be found at kia.sg/stonic.
