Love the Fiat 500‘s looks but are bothered by its lack of practicality? Fiat is proposing this solution.
The Fiat 500 3+1 has an additional door on its passenger side for added convenience. However, Fiat says that this 3+1 has identical dimensions to the three-door hatchback model, so those looking for more legroom for passengers will be disappointed.
But thankfully, entry and exit should now be easier thanks to the lack of a centre panel. The three-door has also only gained 30kg next to its hatchback variant, so any compromises with regard to handling or fuel consumption should be kept in check.
The Fiat 500 3+1 is being launched as a “La Prima” (Italian for ‘Opening Edition’) model. This special edition features two-tone 17-inch diamond-cut wheel rims and LED head lights with an “Infiniti design”.
The Fiat 500 3+1 cabin also gets a two-tone steering wheel wrapped in eco-leather. The same material is used on the seats and dashboard.
Chrome-plated inserts on the exterior, a 360-degree parking camera and a suite of safety systems round off the La Prima package. The Fiat 500 is also capable of level 2 autonomous driving.
The Fiat 500 3+1 will be offered with a 117bhp electric motor for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 9 seconds.
Recharging via an 85kW fast charger will see the battery go from flat to 80% capacity in 35 minutes. The electric supermini offers a Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) maximum range of 320km.
