Ongoing construction at the Sentosa Gateway Tunnel project. The project is taking longer to complete as it is using the piped-box tunnel method, which involves installing interlocking steel pipes that form the perimeter of the box tunnel. The tunnel starts at the stretch between VivoCity and St James Power Station, and goes under Telok Blangah Road, before forking out into two single-lane roads – one connecting up onto Lower Delta Road, and the other onto Keppel Road.
The Land Transport Authority has completed the Sentosa Gateway Tunnel and will open it on April 27 at 10am.
The Sentosa Gateway Tunnel is a one-way road tunnel that connects outbound traffic from Sentosa Island directly to Lower Delta Road and Keppel Road.
The LTA said the tunnel would help alleviate the current congestion experienced at the busy at-grade traffic junctions at Sentosa Gateway, Telok Blangah Road, Kampong Bahru Road and Lower Delta Road, especially during evening peak hours and the weekends.
The project was delayed for over a year. It was supposed to be completed in 2015.
