Cupra has revealed the Formentor VZ5. Powered by a turbocharged 5-cylinder with 385bhp, the Forementor VZ5 is a limited-edition model with a production run of just 7000 units.
COPPER CUPRA
The new top-of-the-range Formentor sports a model-specific bonnet which draws the eye to the metallic badge at the front. Also new for the limited-run car is the Sport Black Matt coloured-coded grille and a newly designed bumper grille.
At the rear is a VZ5-specific carbon fibre rear diffuser. Diagonal quad exhaust pipes with copper trim also reinforce the car’s unique personality here.
A new Taiga Grey paint colour has been specially designed for the VZ5, while Midnight Black, Magnetic Tech Matt and Petrol Blue Matt will also be offered.
Inside, the Cupra Formentor VZ5 features brushed dark aluminium and copper accents. Sports seats available either in petrol blue or black leather are mounted low in the cabin to maximise space and deliver a more ergonomic, sportier seating position.
A customisable Digital Cockpit and centrepiece 12-inch infotainment touchscreen will offer the necessary connectivity for occupants.
5-CYLINDER HEART
Under the bonnet of the Cupra Formentor VZ5 is a turbocharged 2.5-litre 5-cylinder TSI engine.
It develops 385bhp from the engine from 5700rpm to 7000rpm, while the peak torque of 480Nm is available from just 2250rpm. Cupra states that the use of quad copper exhaust pipes also will deliver a “rhythm and unique engine sound”.
The 2.5-litre engine is linked to a quick shifting 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. Zero to 100km/h is accomplished in just 4.2 seconds, and the top speed is 250km/h.
CUPRA FORMENTOR VZ5: FLAMENCO DANCER
The Formentor VZ5 gets exclusive 20-inch copper machined alloy wheels, along with 18-inch brake discs with Akebono 6-piston callipers. A 10mm reduction in ride height, coupled with the 4Drive all-wheel-drive system, rounds off the handling package.
The Cupra Formentor VZ5 will be launched in the market in the fourth quarter of 2021.
