CabRewards+ is an extension of the existing CabRewards programme, which was launched in 2014 to reward passengers who use cashless payment options for their cab rides.
Points can be used to redeem taxi vouchers, discounts on taxi bookings or free transfers to the airport, among other things.
The revamped rewards programme now gives commuters double the number of points for every dollar spent and the flexibility to earn points even if they pay with cash.
In the first phase, CabRewards+ will cover Comfort and CityCab taxi passengers who transfer to or from SBS Transit buses and the North East Line, Downtown Line, and Sengkang and Punggol Light Rail Transit systems within 24 hours.
The company expects to extend the benefits to commuters taking buses or trains operated by other operators such as Go Ahead, SMRT and Tower Transit.
During the month-long promotional period of July, taxi passengers who transfer from SBS Transit bus and trains services are entitled to earn 10 times the usual number of points earned.
Commuters will have to download the ComfortDelGro smartphone application and register their ez-link or NETS FlashPay cards, which will be used to track their journeys for this programme.
The CabRewards+ programme is anticipated to keep ComfortDelGro competitive, given the rise of the private-hire car industry including Grab and Uber.
Chief executive of ComfortDelGro Taxi, Mr Ang Wei Neng:”I think this is a unique position that other providers will find hard to compete with.”
