Can’t take the sweltering weather we are getting these days?
BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos thinks they just might have the perfect thing to keep you looking forward to more sunny days: This, is the BMW M4 Competition Convertible, now available here in Singapore.
SCORCHING PERFORMANCE
The convertible pairs a 503bhp 6-cylinder motor with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.
Power is then sent through BMW M’s xDrive all-wheel drive system, for fully variable and super-smooth distribution of the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels.
All this translates to a zero to 100km/h sprint time of just 3.7 seconds (The BMW M4 Competition Coupe will do the same in 3.9 seconds, mind).
Although if maximum grip is not your priority, switching over the car’s setup to 4WD Sport mode will direct a greater proportion of the engine’s drive to the rear wheels.
Switch off the DSC system altogether and you’ll set your BMW M4 Competition Convertible into a rear-wheel drive machine.
FOR ANY WEATHER
Up top, the BMW M4 Competition Convertible gets a panel bow softtop roof, said to combine the practical benefits of a retractable hardtop with the classically elegant aesthetic of a fabric hood.
This softtop gets an electronically powered folding mechanism that can completely open or close the roof in just 18 seconds.
And boot space is not that compromised either. There are 385 litres with the roof up, and 300 litres with it folded away (Boot space in the M4 Coupe is 440 litres).
If you need still more space for cargo, there’s always the option to wait for the BMW M3 Touring, which has a total of 500-litres of space in the back.
WHEREVER THE ROAD TAKES YOU
On the handling front, a double-joint spring strut front axle combines with a five-link setup at the rear axle here.
The convertible comes equipped with BMW’s Adaptive M suspension and an Active M Differential at the rear axle, all thoroughly fussed over to reign in all that performance.
Electrically adjustable and heated M Sport seats and the Extended Merino leather trim come as standard on the BMW M4 Competition Convertible.
These can be ventilated as an added option. But if driving at night with the roof down is in your itinerary, heated M Carbon bucket seats are also available here as an option, as are additional neck warmers.
The car will come with Adaptive LED Head lights equipped with the BMW Laserlight technology. A host of BMW M Performance Parts are also optionally available from launch.
The BMW M4 Competition Convertible starts from $563,888, just a hair more than the $545,888 the BMW M4 Competition Coupe is asking for (all prices as at 21 July 2022).
