BMW has taken the covers off the latest 1 Series model here in Singapore.
The launch, which took place at Performance Motors Limited, also announced BMW’s exclusive partnership with e-commerce firm Lazada.
BMW is the first automotive brand on LazMall in Singapore, and it can be accessed here.
NEW INITIATIVE
According to BMW, the collaboration with Lazada will enable them to expand customer touchpoints, and “bring the brand to customers in the convenience of their homes”.
Buyers who place a $500 booking fee through the BMW LazMall store for the BMW 118i M Sport will enjoy a special interest rate of 1.18 percent. The offer is limited to the first 11 cars.
From the 12th unit onwards, the interest rate will revert to the prevailing one offered by Performance Motors Limited. However, the booking feee will only be $118.
The booking fees will be refunded when the customer completes the purchase.
BMW 1 SERIES – WHAT’S NEW?
The new five-door hatchback boasts more room and practicality compared to its predecessor. Cabin space has been increased, with rear seat passengers getting 33mm more kneeroom and 19mm more headroom.
The boot is now larger, too, offering 380 litres (rear seats up), or 20 litres more than before.
One of the biggest changes is that unlike the previous model, the new one is no longer rear-wheel-drive by default.
Instead, the new 1 Series now has a front-wheel-drive layout. More powerful variants, such as the M135i xDrive, will have all-wheel-drive.
Inside, BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional, which consists of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and similarly sized infotainment display, is standard.
The BMW 118i M Sport is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine that drives the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Producing 140hp and 220Nm, the 118i M Sport does 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds.
The BMW 118i M Sport is currently priced at $157,888 (no VES rebate/surcharge). Prices for the 118i Luxury Line will be announced later.
