Alfa Romeo doesn’t offer an electric car, but it has inspired an electric guitar design. Handmade to order by the UK’s Harrison Custom Guitar Works, the “Alfa Romeo” costs £4000 (about S$8494) and takes much longer to build than a modern Italian sports car – eight months, to be exact. Fashioned from poplar wood and with a maple cap styled after an Alfa radiator grille, the special string instrument also features aluminium and carbon fibre – exotic automotive materials rarely used by luthiers. The Alfa emblem serves as the guitar’s volume dial, the marque’s four-leaf clover symbol nestles on the guitar’s third fret, and the paint job is Alfa Red.
