Does a timepiece aimed at cycling fans have anything to do with automobiles?
Yes. For although the Tissot Supersport Chronograph marks the Swiss watchmaker’s sponsorship of the Tour de France, such a timepiece can still resonate with driving enthusiasts.
Chronographs, as we know, were originally used for timekeeping not just at automobile races, but in all types of competitions.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
The Swiss-made timepiece is constructed from a 316L stainless steel case with a 45.5mm diameter. It features a fixed bezel with a tachymetric scale, which is used to calculate speed over a given distance.
The Tissot Supersport Chronograph has a Swiss quartz movement with 30-minute, 60-second, and 1/10 of a second counters.
Cool details include a bicycle engraved on the counterweight of the large second hand of the chronograph and three auxiliary dials shaped to resemble bicycle wheels.
The case back is also engraved with the Tour de France logo – a race that Tissot has sponsored since 2015. Stylised bicycle logos can also be found on the leather strap that comes with the watch.
This strap can be interchanged with a nylon and rubber one, which also comes with the timepiece. The Chronograph comes in a unique Tour de France presentation box.
The Tissot Supersport Chronograph Tour de France 2020 has a recommended retail price of S$630.
