After a 100km drive from Lisbon, we arrived at L’and Vineyards, a resort located in Montemor-o-Novo. Lunch was at the Michelin-starred L’and Restaurant, which is headed by chef Miguel Laffan.
Being out in the countryside didn’t stop the restaurant from serving us an octopus salad, alongside barbecued onions, bell peppers, and a spoonful of “Bloody Mary” sorbet. As expected, the octopus was tender and packed with flavour.
The main course was pork neck with spring parsley. The pork was cooked perfectly, and its saltiness was balanced by the sweetness of the garlic cream. Definitely a must-try for anyone visiting this restaurant!
Dessert was a strawberry meringue pie with a scoop of strawberry and basil sorbet. If you’re trying to reduce your sugar intake, you should ask for something lighter. The pie itself was brimming with fruit, and both toppings (the cream and sorbet) were rather sweet, too. That said, the punchy basil flavour helps distract your taste buds from all this sugary goodness!
