Brabus offers the most extensive lineup of performance upgrades and increased-displacement engines for Mercedes-Benz automobiles in the world. It goes without saying that concurrent with the new G-Class going on sale, Brabus already has an initial performance upgrade ready for the 4-litre 8-cylinder twin-turbo engine of the G500, which outputs 422hp ex-factory.
For this engine, the powerplant engineers of the Bottrop-based refinement specialist developed the new Brabus B40-500 PowerXtra performance kit. At the heart of the modification is a plug-and-play control module that is adapted to the electronic engine control unit of the vehicle. Extensive test cycles on state-of-the-art test benches and on the road as well as on different terrain were used to recalibrate the electronic boost pressure control and program optimised mapping for injection and ignition.
With an increase in power by 78hp and a boost in torque by 100Nm, the Brabus-boosted off-roader adds further dynamic spirit. The new peak output of 500hp at 5600rpm and the high peak torque of 710Nm, on tap constantly between 2250 and 4250rpm, harmonise perfectly with the 9-speed automatic transmission of the new G500. If desired, the gears can also be changed manually using the ergonomically shaped aluminum Brabus paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Equipped with Brabus B40-500 PowerXtra engine tuning, the G500 sprints from rest to 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds. The top speed remains electronically limited to 210km/h.
Brabus 900 “One of Ten” is the world’s most powerful 12-cylinder off-roader
The Brabus stainless sport exhaust system with actively controlled flaps and two chrome tailpipes exiting on each vehicle side was designed specifically for the new Mercedes G500. It offers not only an optimal mix of sound, performance and longevity, but also active control of the exhaust note featuring a discreet “Coming Home” mode and a sport position with particularly powerful V8 engine sound.
Like all other Brabus components, this new performance upgrade comes with the three-year/100,000km Brabus Tuning Warranty, which is unrivalled in this industry. Brabus exclusively uses high-tech lubricants from technology partner Motul for this off-roader as well.
Of course, the Brabus designers also lend the current evolution of the G-Class even more fascinating looks. The modified looks are emphasised by the Brabus Monoblock wheels, which were designed specifically for the new G-Class. Customers can choose from various designs and sizes from 20 to 23 inches in diameter. The most exclusive option features Brabus “Platinum Edition” forged wheels of size 11J x 23. Produced using state-of-the-art forging technology, they offer a perfect mix of lightweight construction and tremendous strength. The high-performance tyres of size 305/35 R23 come from Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama.
In keeping with best tradition, Brabus naturally also offers a wide range of exclusive interior options for the new G-Class. The product lineup starts with exclusive accessories such as aluminum pedals and scuff plates with backlit Brabus logo for the passenger cabin and the trunk. In addition, the company’s upholstery shop creates exquisite fine, soft and breathable Mastik leather and/or Alcantara, with the upholstery tailored to customer preferences in every detail with regard to colour and design. The cabin trim options are rounded off by a huge variety of precious-wood components and carbon-fibre elements.
