How many of us have thought of ourselves as “pilots” behind the wheel of our car?
If I had to guess, it would be just as many as those who thought that heads-up displays in cars made them feel (a tiny bit) like fighter jets.
In fighter planes, heads-up displays (HUDs) show pilots the necessary and immediate information they need for a mission. In cars, HUDs can show a variety of data, too, from speed to navigation to music.
So, if you’re a fan of fighter planes and HUDs, then the Bell & Ross BR03-92 is probably right up your alley.
The Bell & Ross BR03-92 is the latest addition to the watchmaker’s Flight Instruments model lineup, which started in 2010 with the BR 01 Radar timepiece.
DESIGN
With its black and green colour scheme, the BR03-92 HUD is clearly military-inspired. It features a 42mm matte black ceramic case and can be paired with either a black rubber or black synthetic fabric strap.
Protecting the dial is a green-tinted sapphire crystal, which has four brackets painted on the glass’ verso. This gives the illusion of an HUD-type display.
To enhance legibility, the hands, indices, hour numerals, triangle and minute circle are all coated with green Super-LumiNova® C3. Bell & Ross says the green tinted glass and green numerals on a black background further improves contrast and readability.
MOVEMENT & WATER RESISTANCE
Powering the Bell & Ross BR03-092 is the BR-CAL.302 movement, which has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The timepiece is water-resistant to 100 metres.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The BR03-92 HUD is currently priced at S$5,900. Production is limited to 999 pieces, and the watch will be available in stores in early June 2020. Click here for more information.
