THE BMW X6 is pretty sporty right out of the factory, but AC Schnitzer’s X6 Falcon package can turn it into a hunter of high-performance vehicles.
Responsible for boosting performance to searing levels are the piggyback ECUs, which enhance output for the various X6 models. The X6 35i, for instance, gains 54bhp and 100Nm, for a total of 360bhp and 500Nm.
The red-hot X6M can be boosted by 75bhp and 80Nm to 650bhp and a mountain-shifting 830Nm.
In order to keep the power in check, AC Schnitzer offers replacement springs to improve the X6’s handling. These springs also enable the sports utility vehicle to be lowered between 20mm and 30mm in front, and 15mm and 25mm at the rear.
For enhanced traction, there’s a selection of cast and forged wheels that range in size from 20 to 23 inches.
The X6 already boasts plenty of road presence, but this can also be made greater with the Falcon’s 10-piece bodykit.
Said bodykit widens the car’s front and rear by 50mm and 90mm respectively. Apart from a wing element, the rear end can also be fitted with a diffuser and a choice of three different tailpipe finishes.
HOTTER 911 BITS
TECHART has unveiled its latest components for the updated Porsche 911 models.
To improve downforce and stability, TechArt’s Aerokit range offers Front Spoiler I, which can also be fitted onto the 911 Turbo/Turbo S without interfering with the models’ active front spoiler.
For the 911 Carrera models, there are two new rear spoilers – Rear Wing I and Rear Wing II. The former fits atop the rear spoiler, while the latter is a fixed component that replaces the standard wing.
Ramping up performance are the Powerkits (piggyback ECUs) that heighten the 911 models’ outputs.
A 911 Turbo S, for instance, which has 580bhp and 700Nm, can already worry supercar drivers. But a Powerkit-equipped Turbo S, which has 640bhp and 830Nm, is likely to terrify them.
FASTEST ELISE
LOTUS has launched the Elise Cup 250, the lightest and quickest Elise model to date.
Impressively, this car can demolish the century sprint in 3.9 seconds, making it as quick as a V10-powered Audi R8 Spyder.
The primary reason for this performance is the car’s remarkable power-to-weight ratio of 261bhp per tonne.
The Cup 250 weighs 931kg (921kg with the optional Carbon Aero pack installed) and it has a supercharged 1.8-litre inline-4 engine thatkicks out 234bhp.
Helping to harness the car’s performance potential are the suspension components, which include Bilstein dampers, Eibach coil springs and an adjustable front anti-roll bar.
Braking duties are handled by dual-piston AP Racing callipers in front and single-piston Brembo callipers at the rear.
Keeping the roadster glued to the road are its sticky Yokohama A048 tyres, which come in staggered sizes.
