Oil giant Shell has added carbon-neutral engine oils to its lubricant offerings.
The carbon-neutral Helix Ultra 0W-20 and 0W-40 lubricants are aimed at eco-conscious motorists concerned about sustainability and the environment.
Shell said that measures to avoid and reduce emissions offer the best way to counter emissions in the long term.
However, until scalable solutions are available, carbon offsetting programmes provide an immediate solution to balance carbon dioxide equivalent (C02e) emissions across its portfolio and value chain.
It says that its global portfolio of nature-based carbon credits will compensate CO2e emissions from the entire lifecycle of these products, including the raw materials, packaging, production, distribution, customer use and product end of life.
It also offers carbon-neutral Helix Ultra lubricants in Europe, China, Indonesia, India and Egypt.
