Hyundai has unveiled the all new Kona N, the first SUV to join Hyundai’s growing high-performance N lineup.
POTENT PERFORMANCE
The Kona N is powered by a turbocharged 2-litre inline-4 paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
Its transmission control unit offers a range of N-exclusive driving modes. These include N Grin Shift, N Power Shift, and N Track Sense Shift, allowing you to optimise the shift pattern according to application.
The drivetrain produces 276bhp and 392Nm of torque. “N Grin Shift” mode however, will allow drivers to temporarily bump power up to 286bhp.
That output is enough to see the performance SUV completing the century sprint in 5.5 seconds. Top speed for the Hyundai Kona N is 240km/h.
AGILE DANCER
The Kona N also gets plenty of enhancements to allow it to handle that power.
An electronic limited-slip differential will manage torque distribution to the 19-inch wheels, delivering maximum fun when carving corners. The vehicle is also equipped with Traction Control to handle a variety of terrain and surfaces, including snow and mud.
The body of the Hyundai Kona N has also received extra welding points. This pairs with an improved strut ring structure and a reinforced skeleton to enhance body rigidity. These improvements are also claimed to minimise body roll.
HYUNDAI KONA N: ROAD PRESENCE
The compact SUV boasts substantial road presence. Body-colored fenders give the Kona N a wide, confident stance. Other unique features include a front lip spoiler, double-wing roof spoiler and side skirts.
These additions enhance aerodynamic efficiency and provide styling cues that declare its racetrack readiness.
Other N brand-specific details include the seats, steering wheel, shift knob and alloy pedals. Performance Blue coloured accents can also be found throughout the cabin.
An enhanced natural language voice recognition system is also available. It incorporates Speech-to-Meaning and Deep Meaning Understanding technologies to bring added convenience to the driving experience.
An N-exclusive Sonic Blue paintwork is also being offered for the Hyundai Kona N.
