The Hyundai Bayon has been revealed, joining the firm’s SUV lineup as its latest and smallest member.
HYUNDAI BAYON: SHARP AND DISTINCTIVE
The compact crossover is described as democratising technology with its long list of intelligent safety and connectivity features.
These combine with a compact exterior and roomy interior to make it “stand out in its segment”.
Strong graphic features define the exterior of the Hyundai Bayon. At the front, a wide grille opens at the bottom to give the car a solid stance.
A horizontal air intake band and daytime running lights (DRLs) establish width, while a lower skid plate confirms its SUV identity.
The car is described as sporting a wedge-shaped profile from the side, thanks to its dynamic shoulder line and geometric C-pillar.
Meanwhile, the rear end is defined by its arrow-shaped tail-lights, connected at either side via a thin horizontal line that gives the car width.
The Hyundai Bayon is available with either 15-inch steel wheels or 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels. A total of nine exterior colours are available, including a new launch colour, Mangrove Green.
An optional two-tone roof in Phantom Black is also available with several exterior colours.
MODERN AND DIGITAL INTERIOR
Hyundai’s 10.25-inch digital cluster pairs with either a 10.25-inch AVN or 8-inch Display Audio in the cabin.
The Hyundai Bayon also comes with the firm’s Bluelink connected car service, now updated to support integration with the user’s Google or Apple calendar.
Additionally, if the calendar appointment also has an address, it can be imported directly into the vehicle’s navigation system. A premium Bose sound system is also offered with the Hyundai Bayon.
Strong emphasis has been placed on front and rear passenger space when designing the Hyundai Bayon. Hyundai states that front passengers can enjoy 1072mm of leg room, while rear passengers have 882mm.
LED ambient lighting will offer illumination in the front passenger foot well, door wells, and front door pull handles.
HYUNDAI BAYON: EFFICIENT POWERTRAINS
At the top of the line-up is a 1-litre T-GDi engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This powertrain will offer either 118bhp or 99bhp.
It can be coupled with a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The 99bhp version can also be had without the mild hybrid system. A 1.2-litre MPi engine with 83bhp paired with a 5-speed manual transmission is also available.
Rev Matching is offered on the 1-litre T-GDi engine when paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch, and for the 1.0-litre T-GDi engine with 48V when paired with the 6iMT in Sport mode.
SAFETY PACKAGE
The Hyundai Bayon will come with Hyundai’s Smart Safety Sense features including Lane Following Assist and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, amongst others.
