Lotus has confirmed a new sports cars series as its existing models enter their final year of production. Prototype production of the Type 131 model is set to commence this year at Hethel in Norfolk, England.
The new manufacturing investment is part of Lotus’ Vision80 strategy. It will also see the relocation of two sub-assembly facilities into one efficient central operation in Norwich city to support higher volumes.
A full programme of activities have also been planned to celebrate the current range of three sports cars (Elise, Exige and Evora), which are now entering their final year of production.
The firm states that its future cars will continue to preserve its all-important DNA, with the overriding criteria of being “For The Drivers”.
