The Artura name has been confirmed for the next high-performance McLaren hybrid.
The new car will utilise an all-new compact twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine paired to an electric motor.
This new powertrain supposedly retains the performance benefits of McLaren’s larger capacity V8s, while delivering improved torque response at low engine speeds. The car can also run on electricity alone for short distances.
The Artura will also be built on an all-new Carbon Lightweight Architecture, optimised for electrification. It will be designed and manufactured in the UK at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre.
Weight-saving technologies throughout the chassis, body, and powertrain will offset the additional mass of the hybrid system.
