Mercedes-Benz has revealed its flagship sedan, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class combines the luxuriousness and high-tech solutions of the only recently presented Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the exclusivity and tradition of Maybach.
BALANCED PROPORTIONS, EXCLUSIVE DETAILS
Distinguishing features include its bonnet, which features a chromed fin. The Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille remains highly recognisable with its vertical, three-dimensional trim strips.
From the flank, the rear doors of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class are wider than those of S-Class models, and the C-pillars feature a fixed quarterlight.
Exclusivity is emphasised by the Maybach brand logo on the C-pillar. Those looking for an even more distinctive look can opt for a two-tone paint finish with a dividing line.
LUXURY REDEFINED
In the cabin, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class offers a sculptured look with its dashboard, centre console and armrests appearing to float above an expansive interior landscape.
Up to five display screens are available, and offered as standard is a 12.8-inch OLED central display alongside a 12.3-inch 3D driver display.
On request, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class can be equipped with electrically operated rear doors.
Also optional is active ambient lighting, which adds rose gold and amethyst hues. A welcome lightshow for rear passengers can also be played with this option ticked.
Adaptive rear lighting makes its debut in the Mercedes-Maybach. This lets passengers adjust the brightness, size and position of the backseat’s lighting, enabling them to select a precise working light or a diffused and relaxing lounge light.
SECOND ROW, FIRST-CLASS
The standard-fit Executive seats will also allow occupants to adopt a pleasant sleeping position by using the footrest on the front seat and the electrically extending leg rest.
The adjustment travel of the leg rest has been extended by 50mm compared to the one in the previous model.
A massage function for the calf rest as part of the Seating Comfort package Rear is making its premiere, with neck and shoulder heating also being offered.
QUIET PROGRESS
The engines of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will come from the Mercedes-Benz portfolio.
Partial electrification and an integrated second-generation starter-generator will facilitate efficient “gliding” when driving at a constant speed, making the stop-start experience even more comfortable.
All engines will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive as standard.
INSULATED DRIVE
The Airmatic air suspension on the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also comes with continuously adjustable damping as standard. A dedicated “Maybach” driving mode will set the car up and focus entirely on ride comfort.
An optional, fully active E-Active Body Control suspension is also offered. It uses a stereo camera to scan the road ahead and smooth out undulations.
Additional absorbent foam is installed in the area of the rear wheel arches, while the additional, fixed triangle windows in the C-pillars have thicker laminated glass in order to maintain acoustic comfort on the move.
Noise-optimised tyres with foam absorbers are available for the Mercedes-Maybach on request.
Active road noise compensation is also making its premiere in the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The system reduces unwanted low-frequency noises using counter-phased sound waves. The bass speakers of the Burmester high-end 4D surround sound system are used for sound reproduction.
