The Jaguar XE has been updated with a new mild hybrid powertrain option and the latest connected technologies.
ADVANCED, EFFICIENT ENGINES
A new generation Ingenium 2-litre 201bhp turbo-diesel engine is now equipped a Belt-integrated Starter Generator to harvest energy usually lost when slowing and braking.
The new motor powers the Jaguar XE from zero to 96km/h in 6.9 seconds and achieves a fuel economy of up to 20.7km/L based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure test cycle.
The new engine also utilises variable vane geometry turbocharger technology for added refinement and performance. The turbocharger vanes rotate, narrowing the opening between them at low engine speeds for rapid torque response and enhanced acceleration.
At higher engine speeds, the vanes open for maximum exhaust gas flow to deliver peak power.
The powerplant also features steel pistons for a more compact, lower friction design as well as the ability to withstand higher peak pressures.
A new 2500 bar piezo common-rail injection system also delivers even finer control of fuel delivered into the cylinders. This reduces emissions and improves efficiency.
PETROL OPTIONS
The Jaguar XE is still available with petrol motors. Customers can choose between the 247bhp or a 296bhp version of the Ingenium 2-litre 4-cylinder engine.
These engines deliver 365Nm and 400Nm of torque respectively. Both also feature the latest engine technologies, which include a twin-scroll turbocharger and Continuous Variable Valve Lift.
LATEST CONNECTED TECHNOLOGY
The Jaguar XE now has the brand’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, accessed through a 10-inch touchscreen.
An optional 5.5-inch lower touchscreen (standard with R-Dynamic HSE specification) is also powered by the new Pivi technology. It combines two multi-functional rotary controllers for key vehicle functions.
The 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display also gets enhanced graphics and a configurable layout. It can show full-screen navigation mapping with turn-by-turn instructions, digital dials, media, contact list or infotainment details.
The latest infotainment system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, and allows customers to connect two phones simultaneously via Bluetooth.
To enable instantaneous start-up, Pivi Pro has a dedicated power source, so it is immediately ready to use.
UPDATED DESIGN
The Jaguar XE car also gets a new split-rim steering wheel design. An embossed Jaguar Leaper on the headrests and a new quilt design is available for the seats.
XE models are available with the enhanced Black Exterior Pack.
Specifying this delivers a stealthier appearance thanks to the Gloss Black components that include the grille, lower air intake surrounds and exterior badging.
