Hot on the heels of the Mercedes-AMG A35 hot hatch comes its four-door sibling, the A35 4Matic sedan.
The A35 sedan retains the same 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the hatch, but sprouts two extra doors and a boot.
That means 306hp, 400Nm of torque and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, good for a 0-100km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds (0.1 seconds slower than the hatch) and an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
The A35 sedan’s 2-litre turbocharged four-pot engine develops 306hp and 400Nm of torque.
“Following the very successful launch of the hatchback model, things are moving along dynamically in the compact class segment at AMG. Sport saloons are the origin of Mercedes-AMG and part of the brand’s core,” said Mercedes-AMG’s chief executive Tobias Moers.
“With our new A35, we are transporting this history into modern times in the form of a very attractive model that serves as a point of entry into the world of AMG and also appeals to new customer groups,” he added.
The four-door saloon has a wheelbase of 2729mm, with short overhangs front and rear.
On all four corners sit “aerodynamically optimised” 18-inch light-alloy wheels with a five twin-spoke design, with 19-inch wheels available as an option.
These wheels are connected to the A35 sedan via MacPherson struts up front and a 4-link connection at the rear.
Three transverse arms and the trailing arm, the wheel carrier and the bearings taken from the A45 4MATIC are used on each rear wheel which ensures maximum driving stability and agility.
Optional are adjustable dampers with AMG Ride Control.
Inside, the A 35 4MATIC Saloon has some 944mm of rear headroom while the boot holds 420 litres and was designed with a wide opening for maximum usability.
The cockpit has Mercedes’ new space-age design with twin customisable 10.25-inch screens displaying everything from your speedo to navigation.
Voice control via the “Hey Mercedes” hotword is also standard, part of the new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User eXperience) infotainment system.
