Lots of things happen on the road at any time: changing traffic conditions, merging vehicles and errant drivers are all significant risks, even if you are a safe driver.
However, there are moments that could escape your attention, and a good dashcam gives you that peace of mind should they occur.
The latest BlackVue DR900S series of dashcams are the most advanced ever from the Korean company, giving you flexibility and adaptability anywhere.
The DR900S-2CH is a dual-channel dashcam with an 8-megapixel CMOS front camera looking at the road ahead, while the available rear camera is a 2.1-megapixel Sony Starvis Full HD. The DR900S-1CH is a single-channel dashcam with the same specifications but without the rear camera.
The DR900S Series offers 4K ultra high-definition recording at 30 frames per second, four times more pixels than Full HD, giving you the clarity you need should an unfortunate incident occur.
The extra resolution, paired with the ultra-wide-angle 162-degree front lens, ensures that everything – even a license plate – is captured with absolute clarity even from a distance.
To store that high-resolution video, the BlackVue DR900S Series uses H.265 compression technology to package video into smaller files, saving you the need to buy expensive, high capacity memory cards.
In smartphone connectivity, BlackVue continues its innovation with the addition of a 2.4Ghz 802.11n and 5GHz 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi module.
With the addition of the 5GHz 802.11ac band, video downloads are now two times faster than with 2.4GHz for compatible mobile devices.
Making things even quicker is BlackVue’s Sub-Stream technology, which saves downsized versions of the videos alongside the full-sized ones. These sub-streams can be speedily downloaded or used for quick preview when browsing the dashcam’s videos through the BlackVue App.
The DR900S Series dashcam is also compatible with BlackVue Over the Cloud, which uses a mobile or car-embedded Internet connection to offer even more features like video backup, real-time GPS tracking, even two-way voice communication.
Protecting your car is a non-stop job, and the BlackVue DR900S Series works both on the road and when parked.
Two major upgrades to Parking Mode bring new features to ensure your car is protected when you walk away from it.
Time Lapse Parking Mode lets the dashcam continuously record at one frame per second, with each one-minute video recorded covers a 30-minute period.
Files will never be overwritten in Parking Mode because each hour of Time Lapse video translates to 30 hours in real time.
That means a DR900S-2CH with a 16GB microSD card could run for over 27 hours in Time Lapse Parking Mode before starting to loop.
In the event of a hit-and-run, that will trigger Buffered Event recording in Time Lapse mode.
That means the camera will record the 5-6 seconds prior to the impact and record at 30 frames per second for the crucial part of the video.
In addition, region-based motion detection now means you can select from a 4×4 grid of 16 “regions” where you wish the camera to trigger if motion is detected.
All regions are active by default, but should you wish to ignore, for instance, trees swaying in the wind, simply deselect those regions, and the other regions will continue to register movement.
Should you wish to run the DR900S camera independently of your car’s battery, the Cellink Neo and Nex batteries let you run your dashcam in parking mode with just 40 minutes of charging.
Built using safe and reliable LiFePO4 (lithium-ion phosphate) cells certified with CE standard, running your dashcam off the separate battery prevents electrical errors (especially on continental cars) and the “Excessive Leakage Current” error on BMWs.
It also protects your new car warranty and any risk of unable to start your car due to premature car battery failure.
The Cellink battery supplies up to 48 hours of power in parking mode and offers stable performance with a long life of up to 2,000 cycles.
The larger Neo battery also comes with Bluetooth to let you check the health and status of the battery via a smartphone app. You can double the capacity by just adding the Cellink Neo Extended.
Used by many leading car brands and dealerships in Singapore, choose BlackVue, the established choice when it comes to road safety and security.
