The Volkswagen Golf is not just one vehicle. In the big picture, it is several, because its platform underpins various other models in the automotive conglomerate. The Mk 5/6 version of the Golf is the Bavarian base plate that supports a great variety of driving machines that wear VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat badges. Both the Beetle (above) and Scirocco (below) are members of the same Golf club, with plenty of platform schmoozing, but they have very different designs and characters. For the female driver, the Beetle makes her cutesy while the Scirocco makes her sporty. For the male driver, he will look metro in the Beetle and macho in the Scirocco.
