Polestar O2 electric convertible concept.
Polestar has confirmed that it will be putting the O2 electric convertible concept into production.
The new 2+2 performance roadster will join the firm’s current lineup as the Polestar 6 come 2026.
Polestar also states that the new car will get a hard top. Chassis rigidity however, is supposedly still guaranteed, as the new car will sit atop the firm’s new bespoke bonded aluminium platform.
Said platform is already the base from which the Polestar 5 is built atop.
Use of this platform means that output from the Polestar 6 can reach up to 872bhp and 900Nm of torque. All this comes courtesy of a dual-motor powertrain, fed via an 800V electric architecture.
Polestar is targeting a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 3.2 seconds for the new car, alongside a 250km/h top speed.
500 special “LA Concept” units of the Polestar 6 are also set to be built in celebration of the car’s launch.
These will feature a unique “Sky” blue exterior alongside a light leather interior and the unique 21-inch wheels of the original Polestar O2 concept.
