Porsche has unveiled the 911 Sport Classic, the second of four collector’s items from its Heritage Design strategy.
Built by Porsche Exclusiv Manufaktur, the 911 Sport Classic is based on the 997 model, but its styling is inspired by predecessors such as the original 1964 911 and the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Production is limited to 1250 units.
UNIQUE TRAITS
The 911 Sport Classic’s distinctiveness is enhanced by the wide body – the same one used by the Turbo models – and a fixed “ducktail” spoiler inspired by the Carrera RS 2.7. Said spoiler, along with the roof and bonnet, are made from carbon fibre to reduce weight.
The coupe comes in Sports Grey Metallic with painted double stripes. Approach it and you’ll notice the double-dome roof and a dynamic recess.
Inside, the interior features two-tone, semi-aniline leather in Black/Classic Cognac, while the door panels and seat centres feature the pepita houndstooth pattern.
Perforated Race-Tex fabric is used on the roof lining, as well as on the A-, B- and C-pillars. The historic Porsche crest is used throughout the interior, too.
The retro touch has been applied to other areas of the cabin as well. The analogue rev counter in the instrument panel, for instance, has a “classic-style” needle, and the green digits hark back to the Porsche 356.
The 911 Sport Classic has a unique powertrain: a twin-turbocharged 3.7-litre flat-6 that’s paired to a 7-speed manual gearbox, which is equipped with an auto-blipping function. Porsche says the sports exhaust is specially tuned, and is complemented by a reduction in sound insulation.
With 543hp (550PS, 405kW) sent to the rear wheels only, the 911 Sport Classic is actually the most powerful manual 911 available today. To help it shed speed, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (ceramic brakes) come as standard.
ACCOMPANYING TIMEPIECE
911 Sport Classic buyers will be offered a chance to buy the matching limited-edition titanium chronograph.
The timepiece features details inspired by the car, such as the white hands and green digits, grey Sport Classic stripes, pepita houndstooth pattern and the winding rotor. The latter is based on the car’s wheels.
Powering the watch is the COSC-certified WERK 01.200 calibre with a flyback function, allowing the wearer to start, stop and reset the seconds hand with a single button press.
Each timepiece is supplied with two straps – one in black and the other in Classic Cognac. Both are made from the same leather used in the car’s interior.
The 911 Sport Classic is now available to order and will reach Singapore in 2023. Prices (excluding COE) start from $1,234,488.
