Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the S-Class Cabrio, the brand’s largest convertible to date. It’s also the manufacturer’s first big cabriolet in 44 years since the 220SE was launched in 1961.
To keep the Cabrio’s weight down, aluminium is used for the rear floor, while the luggage compartment bulkhead is made from aluminium and magnesium.
For convenience’s sake, the Cabrio’s soft-top can be opened and closed in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 60km/h. Cruising comfort, on the other hand, is ensured by the standard Airmatic (air suspension) and well-insulated cabin, which has double-glazed windows as standard.
